A 71-year-old farmer died after being attacked by a wild elephant while returning to his farm hut from the Panama Tank.
Police report the incident occurred last night (22) near the Panama Tank within the Panama Police Division. Although the man was rushed to the Akkaraipattu Hospital with severe injuries, he succumbed to them while receiving treatment.
The victim resided in the Panama South area. Preliminary investigations reveal that he went to the tank to bathe after finishing his agricultural work. Police stated that a wild elephant on the path attacked him as he walked back to his hut.
