A person transporting a stock of diesel valued at over six hundred thousand rupees without a valid permit was arrested based on information from Western Province North Intelligence officers.
Kotahena Police stated that 2,000 liters of diesel, stored in ten 200-liter barrels, were taken into custody along with the suspect. Officers on night mobile patrol in Kotahena intercepted and searched a fully covered lorry traveling along George R. de Silva Mawatha following the intelligence tip-off, which led to the discovery of the fuel.
The 25-year-old driver, a resident of Nawalapitiya, revealed during questioning that the fuel was being transported for sale.
