The Western North Crimes Division arrested three suspects along with 20 illegally assembled luxury vehicles.
Investigations revealed that these vehicles were used for organized crimes and that members of the police and triple forces allegedly assisted in the illegal assembly process.
The suspects and vehicles were taken into custody following an operation conducted by the Western Province North Crimes Division. Those arrested are residents of Kadawatha, Gampaha, and Ja-Ela.
Based on information provided by the suspects, teams located and seized the assembled vehicles in Colombo and its suburbs, as well as in Kadawatha, Meegahawatta, and Monaragala.
The Western North Crimes Division stated that several police teams are currently conducting raids to seize nearly 40 more such illegal vehicles identified during interrogations.
The division requests the public to inform the Western North Crimes Division at 0112947780 if they have a vehicle that was stolen or has gone missing.
Further investigations are underway to arrest suspects involved in crimes such as robberies, extortions, and assaults carried out using these assembled vehicles.
The three arrested suspects are to be produced before the courts in their respective jurisdictions.
