IMF delegation meets Minister Sunil Handunnetti

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met with the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti, for a special discussion yesterday (06).

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development. During the session, extensive views were exchanged regarding the challenges facing the local industrial sector and the future steps necessary to transition toward a production-based economy.

Particular attention focused on new programs implemented through the ministry to strengthen local entrepreneurs and on how to secure the required international financial cooperation for these initiatives. The ministry notes that industrial growth is an essential factor in confirming Sri Lanka's current economic stability, and the government remains committed to providing the necessary policy support.

According to the ministry, the primary objective of this discussion is to further strengthen the economic relationship between the IMF and Sri Lanka while creating a favourable environment for local industrialists.
