ICC chief Jay Shah holds talks with SLC officials

International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia held a special discussion with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chiefs in Colombo yesterday (19).

Sri Lanka Cricket announced that this meeting between the delegation, who arrived in the country for a short visit, and Sri Lanka Cricket authorities was highly cordial and productive.

Attention focused mainly on the current state of Sri Lanka Cricket administration and the progress achieved by the committee currently appointed to oversee the governance transition process.

The announcement states that a comprehensive explanation regarding the steps taken so far to strengthen the governance structure of Sri Lanka Cricket and advance the reform process was presented to the delegation.

Furthermore, facts were clarified regarding the current status of the constitutional and administrative reforms being carried out to ensure long-term stability and good governance within Sri Lanka Cricket.

Sri Lanka Cricket informed the ICC Chairman of the expected timeframes to complete this reform process and hand over power back to a democratically elected administration in compliance with the relevant legal and constitutional framework, while also highlighting the progress achieved so far for a transparent process.

The Sri Lanka Cricket announcement states that the ICC Chairman appreciated these explanations given by Sri Lanka and mentioned that the ICC constantly supports establishing good governance, transparency within the cricket boards of member countries, and the continuous growth of cricket.
