New People's Front leader Sugeeshwara Bandara and a group of representatives arrived at the Thalangama Police today (29) to file a formal complaint.
They requested legal action against individuals who attacked them during a protest calling for the resignation of the Finance Ministry Secretary.
The OIC of Thalangama Police noted that Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma also lodged a complaint regarding the incident yesterday (28) evening.
Representatives of the New People's Front staged a protest yesterday in front of the Secretary's residence in Pelawatta, Battaramulla, demanding his removal following reports that $ 2.5 million belonging to the Treasury reached an external party.
During the demonstration, another group arrived to oppose the protesters, leading to an altercation where cow dung was thrown at the New People's Front members.
