Gampaha Baba further remanded

Dinesh Nishantha Kumara, the notorious alleged organised criminal and drug trafficker known as "Gampaha Baba," was ordered to be remanded until 15 May following an order by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (5).

The Magistrate directed the Marine Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough probe and submit a comprehensive report on whether the suspect faced previous arrests or charges for other offences prior to his illegal departure from the country.

A ruling regarding the bail application filed by the suspect's legal representative will follow the submission of the aforementioned report.

Charges against the suspect involve an investigation coordinated between Interpol and the Sri Lankan Police after he reportedly fled to India via the Mannar coast by boat before escaping to Nepal.

Investigating officers informed the court that charges regarding illegal emigration involve several alleged drug traffickers and alleged underworld leaders, including Gampaha Baba, Backhoe Saman, Nugegoda Babi, and Keselbaddara Padme.
