A foreign airline passenger attempting to smuggle a stock of cocaine valued at 108 million rupees through the "Green Channel" at the Katunayake airport arrival terminal was arrested by Customs Narcotics Control Department officials this morning (15).
The arrested suspect is a 60-year-old Indian geologist. He carried the stock of drugs from Kampala, Uganda to Doha, Qatar, and arrived at Katunayake airport at 10:40 AM today aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-664.
A total of 2 kilograms and 150 grams of cocaine was brought by the passenger, hidden discreetly inside two certificate file covers in his travel bag. The airline passenger and the seized stock of cocaine were handed over to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotic Bureau officials for further investigations.
