Qatari team in Iran shows back-and-forth diplomacy underway

The mood here in the Iranian capital is this deal with the US is close but the final decision has yet to be made.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Islamabad memorandum of understanding has never been closer. For more than 24 hours it’s been under review by the relevant authorities, which is the Supreme National Council.

It hasn’t given any fixed timetable for signing. It could happen remotely in the coming days.

We have an important development with a Qatari delegation flying to Iran, the second time in less than a week. That suggests an exchange of messages between both sides and the diplomatic path very much still alive in the Iranian capital.
