Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department will face further questioning today (16) regarding a complaint alleging that former State Intelligence Chief Retired Major General Suresh Sallay suffered torture while in detention.
The Human Rights Commission of Lanka stated this.
Commission member Nimal Punchihewa noted that a special inspection took place covering the detention cell where Suresh Sallay was held, alongside other cells.
Numerous deficiencies, including a lack of proper ventilation inside the relevant cell, were observed during those inspections.
