Ayesha Khan arrested during Mumbai protest for education reforms

Popular Indian actress Ayesha Khan, who arrived to support a protest held for education reforms and students' rights, was detained and released by Mumbai Police.

She, who gained high popularity through the song 'Shararat' in the film 'Dhurandhar', was thus taken into police custody in the Dadar area of Mumbai.

She stated that she and a group of friends were staying peacefully near the road to support student protests, and did not carry out any displaying of boards.

However, she alleges that a police team of 15 members including female officers arrived and forcefully loaded her and her friends into a police vehicle without informing any reason.

Releasing several video clips via Instagram from inside the police vehicle and later from the Worli police station, Ayesha mentioned that she did not break any law, and although she questioned how even staying peacefully on the road became an offence, she received no answer from the police.

She was released after being kept in police custody for nearly 3 hours, and although officers at the police station spoke respectfully, she expressed deep regret regarding the way the police behaved at the location where the protest was held.
