Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam arrested

Former minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was taken into custody today when he arrived at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to provide a statement.

The appearance was requested regarding an investigation into deploying two Presidential Secretariat employees to work in his personal office while he served as an advisor to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
