Permission was received to detain and investigate former State Intelligence Service head, Retired Major General Tuan Suresh Sallay, who was arrested on suspicion regarding the Easter Sunday terrorist attack and detained for interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Department, for a further 90-day period.
Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department obtained detention orders in this manner according to an order given by the Minister of Defence pursuant to Section 9(1) of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act No. 48 of 1979.
