The Department of Meteorology says showers will occur at times today in the Sabaragamuwa Province as well as the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Several spells of showers are also expected in the Western and North-Western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota districts after 2:00 pm.
Mainly dry weather will prevail across the rest of the island.
Fairly strong winds of between 40 and 50 km/h are expected over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and the Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota, and Matale districts.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the sun is expected to be directly overhead at 12:11 pm today over Mannar, Periyamadu, Puliyankulam, Weli Oya, and Mullaitivu.
