CFA Society Sri Lanka (CFASSL) commemorated its 25th anniversary by ringing the Market Opening Bell and issuing a commemorative cover and stamp on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) trading floor earlier this week, marking 25 years of contribution to the development of Sri Lanka's investment profession and the financial services industry.
The bell ringing was followed thereafter with an issuance of a commemorative cover and stamp by the Postmaster General of Sri Lanka.
CFA Society Sri Lanka, established in 2001, is part of the global network of CFA Institute member societies, dedicated to supporting the professional development and advancement of CFA charterholders and candidates in Sri Lanka.
The Society has a membership of over 250 CFA charterholders, including CEOs, CFOs, portfolio managers, equity analysts, banking professionals, investment advisors, and other senior financial practitioners, and supports approximately 500 candidates currently pursuing the CFA Program.
CFASSL promotes the globally recognized CFA Program in Sri Lanka, alongside other qualifications offered by the CFA Institute such as the CFA Institute Certificate in Sustainable Investing. The Society also undertakes several initiatives.
Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane, CFA, President of CFA Society Sri Lanka remarked “Ringing the opening bell at the Colombo Stock Exchange to commemorate the 25th anniversary of CFA Society Sri Lanka is a meaningful milestone for our Society and a reflection of how far the investment profession in Sri Lanka has evolved over the past two decades."
CFASSL continues to work closely with CSE, with the bourse having been the society’s Platinum Partner for eight consecutive years.
The CSE Chairman Dimuthu Abeyesekera remarked that over the past twenty-five years the Society has played a pivotal role in advancing professionalism, ethical standards, investment knowledge and excellence within Sri Lanka’s financial services industry.
“Through its commitment to education, thought leadership and professional development, the Society has made a lasting contribution to strengthening the country’s capital-market ecosystem, and wished the CFA Society Sri Lanka continued success and many more years of inspiring leadership and service to the investment community.”
