The All Ceylon Jewellery Traders Association announces a 4,000 rupee increase per sovereign in the local gold market today, July 3. This follows yesterday’s price of 384,000 rupees for a sovereign of 24-karat gold, which now trades at 388,000 rupees. Current market rates place a sovereign of 22-karat gold at 357,000 rupees. Consequently, the price for one gram of 24-karat gold reaches 48,500 rupees, while one gram of 22-karat gold trades at 44,625 rupees.
