Beth Behrs joins ‘Shifting Gears’ for ‘2 Broke Girls’ reunion

The “2 Broke Girls” are getting back together. Variety has learned that Beth Behrs is set to guest star in the upcoming third season of the ABC sitcom “Shifting Gears,” which stars her former co-star Kat Dennings.

Behrs will guest star as Dr. Johnson, who is described as a beautiful emergency room doctor who treats Riley (Dennings) for a back injury.”

The role also brings Behrs back together with “Shifting Gears” showrunner and executive producer Michelle Nader, who was formerly a co-showrunner and executive producer on “2 Broke Girls.”

“Shifting Gears” was renewed for its third season back in April. Along with Dennings, the series stars Tim Allen, Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis.

The logline for the show states that it follows Matt (Allen), “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When his estranged daughter, Riley, and her kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”

This is the latest cast reunion on “Shifting Gears.” In Season 2, Allen’s former “Home Improvement” co-stars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning all appeared as members of a support group that Matt attends at the behest of fellow widower Charlotte, who was played by Allen’s former “Last Man Standing” co-star Nancy Travis.

Allen is an executive producer on “Shifting Gears” along with Nader, Bob Daily, Jim Patterson, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina and John Amodeo. Dennings is a producer. 20th Television produces. Season 3 will air in 2027.

“2 Broke Girls” aired for six seasons on CBS. Behrs followed that up with the CBS sitcom “The Neighborhood,” which aired its eighth and final season earlier this year. Her film credits include the Pixar animated movie “Monsters University” and the indie comedy “Hello, My Name is Doris.” Behrs also currently hosts the podcast “Harmonics.”
