Royal and Mahanama into semi-finals of U19 Inter-School One Day Cricket Tournament

Royal College, Colombo, and Mahanama College, Colombo, have successfully qualified for the semi-final round of the Under 19 Division I Tier 'A' Inter-School One Day Cricket Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association under the patronage of Sri Lanka Cricket.

The two winning teams will now face each other in the semi-final.

Mahanama College, Colombo, entered the semi-finals undefeated after securing a 106-run victory against Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, in their quarter-final match played at the Kiriūmaṇḍala Mawatha Grounds, Nārahēnpiṭa.

Batting first, Mahanama College was bowled out for 268 runs in 47.5 overs. In response, Prince of Wales College could only manage to score 162 runs before being all out in 43.3 overs.

Venura Kavithra starred for Mahanama with an all-round performance, scoring 65 runs and taking 2 wickets for 24 runs.

Sanul Weeraratne top-scored with 78 runs. Rusandu Silva contributed an all-round effort for Prince of Wales.

Royal College, Colombo, secured their semi-final spot with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, in their quarter-final played at the Royal College Grounds.

St. Sebastian’s College batted first and scored 213 runs in 49.1 overs. Royal College chased down the target successfully, reaching 217 runs for the loss of only 3 wickets in 43.4 overs.
