Sri Lanka Cricket announced a change to the 15-member national women’s squad selected for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, following an injury to young player Sashini Gimhani.
According to an official media statement issued by the Sri Lanka Cricket, Gimhani sustained a lower back injury during training sessions, which ruled her out of the tournament.
As a result, the selection committee has named right-arm medium pacer Chethana Vimukthi as her replacement in the squad.
Due to the injury, Gimhani was also unable to join the team that departed for England on June 2 for pre-tournament preparations.
SLC confirmed that the replacement decision was made to ensure the squad remains fully prepared for the upcoming global tournament.
