Javelin sensation Rumesh Tharanga clinches third Diamond League win of the season

In a thrilling showdown at the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland, Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage once again conquered the global stage.

The 23-year-old javelin sensation clinched first place with a blistering throw of 88.14 meters, edging out India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra by just nine centimetres in a nerve-wracking finish.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters secured third place with an 86.69-meter effort.

This high-octane victory reinforces Pathirage’s dominance at the pinnacle of world athletics.

Pathirage’s sensational triumph in Lausanne follows his historic gold medal performance at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, where a monumental 89.75-meter launch shattered records to deliver Sri Lanka’s first Commonwealth Games gold in 20 years.
