Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya says that those who destroyed the 'Sudakuda Stupa' in Sampur Trincomalee have been identified.
The Speaker expressed these views joining the event held at the BMICH yesterday (23) to hand over credentials to the newly appointed Anu Nayaka of the Amarapura Siri Saddharmawansha Maha Nikaya, Venerable Doctor Dimiyawe Amarawansha Thera.
The Stupa was identified by the Archaeological Department for further exploration.
But it had been completely destroyed and flattened out by a group a few days later.
