The University Grants Commission (UGC) states that students in all universities in the country are scheduled to be vaccinated on 07 and 08 October.

Accordingly, it is planned to enable students to get the vaccine from the nearest university in their area of ​​residence.

A senior official of the UGC stated that a decision regarding the reopening of universities will be taken after that.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said that with the opening of the country, the people should continue to comply with health guidelines.

State Minister of Performing Arts Vidura Wickremanayake stated in Parliament today (04) that discussions will be held with the health authorities regarding the reopening of music concerts and cinemas.

Meanwhile, popular film and teledrama actress Samantha Epasinghe who was receiving treatment at the Horana Base Hospital for corona infection has died.

The 54-year-old was a vibrant presence in the Theatre, mini screen and cinema and is perhaps best known for her role of 'Kumari' in the 1989 teledrama - Asalwesiyo.
