The son of the murdered businessman, the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Western Province South Crimes Division, representatives from the Attorney General’s Department, and the person who took charge of Wasantha’s body are also scheduled to appear before the court as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
Sri Lanka Police have appealed to the public for assistance in locating three additional suspects related to the incident, releasing photographs and details to aid in their capture.
Among the ten suspects in custody are the owner of the tattoo studio where the shooting took place on July 8, and a 21-year-old woman suspected of aiding and abetting in the crime. Investigations revealed that the tattoo studio owner received Rs. 1 million over a period of time.
The incident occurred during the opening ceremony of a tattoo and piercing studio near the Clock Tower in Athurugiriya. Six people were rushed to the hospital following the shooting. Police later confirmed that 55-year-old businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera and a 38-year-old man succumbed to their injuries.
