Transport Minister Bimal Ratnayake has stated that new rules will be introduced from July 1, with the aim of reducing road traffic incidents and establishing a proper transport structure.   

Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (21), he stated that the work of removing additional accessories installed on buses will also resume.   

It is also expected to introduce special medical examination measures for drivers over the age of 40.   

It has also been decided to conduct testing measures using special equipment to identify those driving under the influence of alcohol.   

At the same time, it is expected to install a timer on all traffic lights on the roads.
