The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will observe Anti-Pyramid National Awareness Week from July 14 to 18, 2025 under the theme:
“Pyramid is a trap – don’t get into the wrong track.”
Organized by the Financial Consumer Relations Department, the initiative aims to raise public awareness about prohibited pyramid schemes and the serious financial risks they pose to individuals and the national economy. This campaign aligns with CBSL’s commitment to maintaining financial stability and safeguarding consumer well-being.
The outreach will span across 6,172 schools and 14,022 Grama Niladhari divisions, targeting a broad demographic including school students and teachers, armed forces, police, civil security personnel, government employees, and the general public.
Participants will be educated on the legal implications of participating in pyramid schemes, their deceptive structure, financial consequences, and real-life stories from victims.
To ensure a wide impact, CBSL will deploy a multi-platform media strategy including newspapers, social media, educational posters, live streams, TV and radio programs, and public seminars across the country.
CBSL urges the public to stay vigilant and actively participate in the awareness campaign to protect themselves and their communities from financial fraud.
