Five estate workers, including four women and one man, who were plucking tea leaves, were hospitalised today (24) after being attacked by wasps.

They have been admitted to the Bogawantalawa Regional Hospital.

The incident occurred when a group of estate workers was plucking tea leaves at the Campion Estate, which falls under the Bogawantalawa Police Division.

According to hospital sources, the wasps were agitated after a nest built on a tea bush was stepped on by one of the workers, leading the swarm to attack the other workers.
