Team+Sri+Lanka+returns+from+successful+South+Asian+Athletics+Championship

The Sri Lankan athletics team, which secured the Runner-Up position at the 2025 South Asian Athletics Championship in India, arrived in the island this morning (28).


Minister of Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, along with a group of officials, welcomed the team at Katunayake Airport.


At the championship, the Sri Lankan contingent won a total of 40 medals, including 16 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze.


Notable achievements include Shafiya Yamik, who secured a triple gold medal, and Rumesh Tharanga, who was named Best Athlete of the Tournament.
