The inaugural budget proposal of the National People's Power (NPP)-controlled Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha was defeated.
The Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha monthly session began today (6) around 10:00 AM under the chairmanship of Chairman Sampath Gunasinghe.
The first presentation of the NPP's inaugural budget proposal for the Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha took place this morning.
A vote was held on the budget this afternoon, and opposition parties worked to defeat it.
The Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha consists of 9 seats for the NPP, 5 for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), 3 for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), 1 for the United National Party (UNP), and 1 for the Sarvajana Pakshaya.
Although the NPP won 9 seats in the last local government election and all opposition groups collectively held 10 seats, the NPP won the secret ballot election for the Chairman and established power in the Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha.
