Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Netthikumara today (18) that Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, is required to appear at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the 20th to provide a statement.

The summons relates to a private trip taken to London for Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe’s graduation ceremony during the tenure of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The CID reported to the court that this trip resulted in a loss exceeding 15 million rupees to the government.

The Additional Solicitor General, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, stated that Kollupitiya Police notified Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe to present herself before the Financial Investigation Unit of the CID at 9:00 AM on the 20th to record her statement regarding the matter.
