Individuals rescued from the Senehase Kadaella Mawpiya Sevana elder care home in Batagoda, Horana when the fire broke out are currently directed to safe locations.

The Disaster Management Centre stated that the 51 rescued individuals are currently accommodated at the Batagoda Junior School.

11 people lost their lives, and 7 others sustained injuries and were hospitalised due to the fire that erupted at the elder care home last afternoon.

However, the cause of the fire is not yet revealed, and police mentioned that the Government Analyst's Department was also called to conduct investigations.
