The email system at the Treasury outdated since 2019, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team revealed during a Committee on Public Finance meeting.
The revelation emerged during a recent committee meeting regarding an incident where a sum of US$ 2.5 million paid as a foreign loan instalment ended up in the hands of a third party.

The Committee on Public Finance concluded that the diversion of the US$ 2.5 million Treasury sum to a third party constituted a fraud linked to a cybercrime.
