A new Lionistic year has commenced for Lions International Multiple District 306, Sri Lanka, bringing renewed vision, stronger commitment and a dynamic leadership team to guide the movement through 2026/2027.
Leading this new chapter is Lion Rajitha Rodrigo PMJF PMAF, who assumes duties as the Multiple Council Chairperson for 2026/2027. His appointment marks an important milestone for Lions in Sri Lanka, bringing a leadership approach built on experience, professionalism, collaboration and a strong commitment to service.
Lions Multiple District 306 operates under the guidance and advisory support of a distinguished panel of senior Lion leaders, including International President 2007/2008 Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya PMJF PMAF, LCIF Trustee and Past International Director Lion Mahesh Pasqual PMJF PMAF, Past International Director Lion Sunil Watwala PMJF PMAF and Past International Board Appointee Lion Sarath De Fonseka PMJF PMAF.
The commencement of the new Lionistic year reflects both continuity and transformation. Lions International has long been recognised for its commitment to serving humanity, while the Sri Lankan Lions movement has played a vital role in addressing community needs in areas such as healthcare, environment, education, hunger relief, disaster response and social development.
Twelve District Governors were elected for 2026/2027, representing the expanded leadership structure of Lions Multiple District 306.
The newly elected District Governors are: Lion M. Pravin Silva, MJF, Lions District 306 D1; Lion Sunethra Thanthriwatta MJF MAF, Lions District 306 D2; Lion Dr. Jeewantha Perera MJF PMAF, Lions District 306 D3; Lion Diluka Mahawatte PMJF PMAF, Lions District 306 D4; Lion P. K. Gayan Lakmal PMJF PMAF JP, Lions District 306 D5; Lion Jayasinghe Bandara MJF MAF, Lions District 306 D6; Lion Chandika Dedigama MJF, Lions District 306 D7; Lion Ravindra Kalansooriya MJF MAF, Lions District 306 D8; Lion Umashankar Janaranjan PMJF PMAF, Lions District 306 D9; Lion Shahir Ahmad PMJF PMAF, Lions District 306 D10; Lion D. M. Pushpakumara Dissanayake PMJF MAF, Lions District 306 D11; and Lion T. Uthayasurian MJF MAF JP, Lions District 306 D12.
Together, this leadership team represents diverse professional expertise, community experience and Lionistic commitment. Their collective responsibility will be to motivate clubs, develop future leaders, promote service excellence and ensure each district contributes meaningfully towards the broader objectives of Lions International.
The year ahead is expected to focus on strengthening public awareness of Lions’ service initiatives, enhancing collaboration among districts, supporting youth and Leo engagement, and encouraging greater participation from communities and partners.
