The President of Senegal's football federation alleges that the national team doctor was trained as a gynaecologist and lacked the specialised background needed to support the squad during the World Cup.

Senegal's Association of Sports Medicine have stated that the allegations are "unfounded and defamatory". The association assures that the team doctor is qualified in sports medicine and has being engaged with the national team since 2017. The association added that the doctor has worked at multiple World Cups and many tournaments of Africa Cup of Nations.
