The Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka), the pioneer in accounting education and professional skills development in the country, recently held its Passed Finalists’ Diploma Awarding Ceremony at the Main Conference Hall of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, honouring students who successfully completed the Final Level of the January 2026 AAT Examinations.

A total of 2,179 Passed Finalists representing every district of the island were invited to receive their Diploma in Accounting and Business, each accompanied by a guest to witness this significant milestone in their academic journey. Owing to the large number of recipients, the ceremony was conducted across three sessions, welcoming approximately 4,000 attendees throughout the day, making it one of the largest Passed Finalists’ Diploma Awarding Ceremonies organised by AAT Sri Lanka.

The morning session was graced by Fintrex Finance General Manager/Chief Executive Officer Jayathilake Bandara as Chief Guest, with CA Sri Lanka President Tishan Subhasinghe as Guest of Honour.

The afternoon session featured Colombo Re Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Ltd Chief Executive Officer Roshini Silva as Chief Guest, joined by CA Sri Lanka Council Member Saman Siri Lal as Guest of Honour, while the evening session was graced by Capital Maharaja Group Finance Director Lalith Fernando as Chief Guest, with CA Sri Lanka Council Member Thivanka Jayasinghe as Guest of Honour.

The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of AAT Sri Lanka President Dr. Chamara Bandara, who led the proceedings alongside the Vice President, Secretary, Members of the Governing Council and the Chief Executive Officer of AAT Sri Lanka.

Beyond celebrating academic achievement, the ceremony focused on preparing graduates for the next stage of their professional journey. Participants received guidance on fulfilling the practical training requirements for AAT membership, enhancing employability, obtaining the prestigious MAAT professional membership and pursuing further academic opportunities through the AAT Business School.

Having successfully completed the Final Level of the AAT qualification and secured the NVQ Level 5 equivalent Diploma in Accounting and Business, the Passed Finalists are now equipped with the knowledge, practical skills and competencies required to embark on careers in accounting, finance and business.

Upon completion of the prescribed practical training and the People and Leadership Skills Workshop, they become eligible for the Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) designation, marking the next milestone in their professional journey.

Widely regarded as the first professional qualification pursued by many students after the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, AAT Sri Lanka has for more than three decades provided a strong professional foundation for the country's youth.

The qualification equips students with industry-relevant knowledge and practical competencies while serving as a recognised pathway to higher education and professional qualifications, including Chartered Accountancy.
