The Appeal Court issued an interim injunction preventing the removal of Central Provincial council Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake from his current position.
The order was issued after considering his petition which cited that no provisions are available to do so in the Constitution.
19 Central Provincial Councilors including its Opposition Leader Ranjith Aluvihare handed over a no confidence motion against Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake on April 17th.
The no confidence motion against the Chief Minister was submitted on nine financial fraud incidents including the construction of the Pallekele Provincial Council Secretariat and the Digana Sports ground.
