Politburo Member of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP), Kumar Gunaratnam, has been further remanded till February 23, after being produced at the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court on Monday (15).
Kumar Gunaratnam alias ‘Kumara Mahaththaya’ who possesses the Australian citizenship, was arrested at his mother’s home in the Anguruwawila area in Kegalle on November 4, 2015 by the Kegalle Police, for staying in the country in violation of Immigration and Emigration laws without a Visa. He was later handed over to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration to seek a Court order for his deportation.
Reportedly, Mr. Gunaratnam arrived in Sri Lanka on January 1 on a thirty-day Tourist Visa which expired on January 31 and since then he was said to be in hiding.
