The Colombo Crime Division has initiated investigations into the brawl that erupted among several MPs in parliament yesterday.
A senior officer stated that statements have already been recorded from several MPs.
The brawl erupted in the parliament chamber yesterday as the Opposition questioned the issue of removing the former presidents army security detail.
The brawl disrupted the sessions of the house and, subsequently the speaker adjourned parliament until today.
UNP MP Sandith Samarasinghe who was injured during the brawl was admitted to Colombo National Hospital.
MP Samarasinghe is still receiving treatment at hospital.
Meanwhile the report looking into the incident, requested by the speaker of the house is scheduled to be submitted at 12 noon today.
