Our Negombo correspondent says that both local and foreign passengers are greatly inconvenienced due to the ongoing strike action by the private bus operators on the Negombo - Colombo route no. 240.
The strike was launched yesterday (Mar. 14) urging the authorities to arrest an individual who is accused of assaulting a private bus conductor.
The bus operators of the Negombo - Colombo, Negombo - Avariwatta, Katunayake - Colombo intercity service and expressway have joined the strike.
Long queues could be seen at the Negombo Bus Terminal as a result of this strike and several CTB buses are being operated.
Usually, private buses undertake around 150 turns between Colombo and Negombo on a daily basis.
