The Met Department forecast more rain in the next few days due to turbulence in the lower atmosphere close to the island.
The Department further said that wind speeds could increase from 70 to 80 kilometres per hour in the coastal areas from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai, from Puttalam to Colombo and from Hambantota to Batticaloa.
Meanwhile, the Director of Expressways maintenance and planning, S. Opanayake requested motorists to limit their speed to 60kph during wet weather conditions.
