3000 railway employees joining the strike face a risk of suspension- Trade unions reveal

The railway trade unions say that nearly 3000 railway workers who are engaged in the strike are facing a risk of suspension.

However the strike action continues for a 10th day today demanding for solutions for their salary anomalies.

While 12 trains operated this morning, only 8 trains operated in the afternoon.

Railway trade unions say despite the government using various means to mitigate their trade union action, they will continue their strike.

Meanwhile expressing his views at a media briefing in Colombo today secretary of the railway engine driver’s union Indika Dodangoda said that they are prepared to discuss their problems with officials at any given time.
