A very rare species of white porcupine has been found in the Koppakanda area in Kolonna.
According to Hiru Correspondent, the animal was found trapped near a house by wildlife officials following a tip-off from the owner of the house.
Hiru Correspondent further stated that the animal was being treated in the 'Aththuru Sevana' of the Udawalawe Wildlife Office by the officers.
However, veterinary officials stated that the animal was found to be rare and that the body of the animal had been severely damaged due to the slight trapping.
However, he further stated that the animal will be kept in a cage under medical supervision until it recovers from the treatment.
