The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended a former Commissioner of the Kalmunai Municipal Council who stands accused of perpetrating tax fraud. The suspect, identified as a 60-year-old resident of Perianeelawane who is currently retired, was taken into custody by law enforcement officials.
The charges against the former commissioner revolve around his alleged involvement in defrauding tax revenue owed to the Kalmunai Municipal Council. Additionally, he is accused of aiding and abetting this fraudulent activity.
