Six sluice gates of the Bowathanna Reservoir were opened this morning (26) due to the increasing water levels of the river Mahaweli.
As such, the engineer in charge of the reservoir, Buddhika Mahesh Navaratne emphasizes caution to all those residing beside the river Amban, which extends up to Moragahakanda.
Furthermore, with the continuous heavy rain, the water levels of the Castlereagh Reservoir and the Maskeliya reservoir have reached spill level.
Meanwhile, the police urge motorists to exercise caution while driving in areas in the central hills due to foggy conditions.
