The badge pinning and certificate awarding ceremony for the sixth Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course of the Sri Lanka Navy was held on August 27, 2025, at the Bomb Disposal Training School in Mahawa.
The event was presided over by Commander of the Naval Infantry, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ranaweera.
Commander Ranaweera presented official badges and certificates to 13 naval officers who successfully completed the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course No. 6, which was conducted from the February 17 to August 27, 2025.
Lieutenant Commander E.T.M.R. Bhanuka was recognised as the most outstanding officer of the course, while Naval Infantryman R.G.S.A.S. Senarathna was named the most outstanding sailor.
Lieutenant Kavidu Kumara and Naval Infantryman R.G.S.A.S. Senarathna were also awarded for being the most talented artificial bomb makers.
In conjunction with the ceremony, seven 'Exploder' machines, a new device developed by the Bomb Disposal Training School's Innovation and New Ideas Cell, were symbolically handed over to the naval commands for research and use.
The Deputy Commander of the North Western Naval Command, along with other officers and sailors from Naval Headquarters and the North Western Naval Command, as well as family members of the course graduates, also attended the event.
