A NEWLYWED HUSBAND DIES IN ELLA BUS CRASH, LEAVES BEHIND PREGNANT WIFE

A truly heartbreaking story has emerged from the tragic bus crash near Ravana Ella, this one from the Beliatta area.

It’s the sensitive story of a woman who lost her husband just two months after their marriage.

The woman, Inoka Nagiriya, works at the Tangalle Zonal Education Office.

"I didn't go on the trip because I was ill. My husband went because everyone else was going. He was such a wonderful person, a man with a heart of gold. He never said a word to hurt my feelings. We were so happy. Why, God, did this happen to us?" she lamented.

Her husband, Namal Ruwantha, was a beloved driver for the Tangalle Urban Council.

It's been reported that at the time of his death, his wife was pregnant.

"The last time my husband called me was from near Ravana Ella. I thought he'd be home in another two hours, but he didn't come. I called him several times, but the phone wasn't working. Finally, I tried calling others and that's when I heard the news of the crash. How am I going to bear this sorrow?" she cried, overcome with grief.
