Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate SanduniHapuarachchi has ordered the remand of three suspects until December 24 following the death of a visually impaired wild elephant.
The suspects—identified as J. M. SisiraSenadheera, J. M. PrasanthaChalinda Kumara, and J. M. Wasantha Wijaya Kumara—were arrested by Mihintale Police in connection with the brutal killing.
The court heard that the elephant, which suffered from impaired vision and mobility issues, was set on fire using torches.
Despite a plea for bail from their legal representatives, the Magistrate ordered the trio to be held in custody while investigations continue.
