The Past Pupils' Association (PPA) of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo, stated the controversial incident at the recent annual colours awards ceremony. The PPA noted that both the swimmer and the squash player involved in this matter are talented students who brought great honour to the school.
The association requested that school authorities conduct a formal inquiry into the incident. They expressed hope for a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation carried out by a panel of qualified sports experts.
The controversy arose when a student made a public announcement at the end of the ceremony, alleging that she was unfairly denied her rightful award simply because she did not attend the rehearsals, despite her numerous sports achievements.
