The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) dismissed social media reports claiming that popular actor Rajitha Hiran, known as "Pin Pong," was appointed as the party's organiser for the Kesbewa constituency.
Ajith Naragala, the current SLPP Chief Organiser for Kesbewa, stated that news regarding a political appointment for Rajitha Hiran is entirely false. These rumours surfaced following the opening of a party office in Kesbewa today (29), an event presided over by General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam.
While a large number of politicians and artists attended the ceremony, a photograph of Rajitha Hiran signing the guest commemorative book began circulating online. Certain parties reportedly used this image to spread misinformation suggesting he had taken over the organiser role.
Naragala emphasised that such false claims are spread with the intention of discouraging popular figures who support the party. He further noted that these actions are unacceptable and aimed at creating confusion among the public.
