An unidentified male body was found in the Kandy Lake near Sangaraja Mawatha, according to the Kandy Police.
The discovery occurred in the waters directly in front of the Sangaraja Pirivena hostel.
Kandy Inquirer into Sudden Deaths, Norman Costa, visited the scene to conduct an initial investigation, as the identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed.
Following the preliminary inspection, orders were issued to move the body to the Kandy National Hospital for a forensic examination by the Judicial Medical Officer.
Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Central Province, Sudath Masinghe, also arrived at the site and instructed officers to proceed with the necessary legal inquiries.
