A proposal is being finalised to secure between $20 million and $25 million from a United Nations-linked fund to support national reconstruction efforts following Cyclone Ditwah.
Rohan Cooray, a climate finance and risk analyst serving under the Commissioner General of Essential Services, stated that the funds will be sought from the UN's "Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage."
The Ministry of Environment is expected to officially submit the proposal, which aims to address the significant infrastructure and economic losses caused by the disaster.
